A5 processor packs more powerful graphics, too
Whatever Apple announces tomorrow — iPhone 5 and/or iPhone 4S (still the Apple TV rumors persist) — the processor inside will be faster by at least an order of magnitude and includes the graphics. Although smartphones and tablets are pretty much all ARM powered, the ones designed by Apple are in a class of their own.
AnandTech put the top current tablets and smartphones on the test bench and tortured them. When the screaming was over, the iPad didn’t just come out — it dominated:

Yes, all of the processors tested were ARM-based system on chip (SoC). However, whereas the current Android leader uses a Samsung 4210 processor with Mali-400 graphics, Apple’s A5 is based on the still next-gen Cortex A9 with PowerVR SGX 543MP2 (that’s a mouthful) graphics, and the results speak for themselves.
And, regardless of what new iPhone comes out tomorrow, it’s pretty much a sure bet that it will have an A5 inside. Ready to rock, boys and girls?

wow, i’m really impressed by the samsung galaxy s2. That phone is a lot faster than any of the other phones (and even the tegra 2) out there. Btw, i’m sure the A5 in the iphone will rock, but nowhere near as much as with the ipad2, unless you want to see battery time measured in minutes, not hours.
