iOS 5 adoption soars
You get what you pay for and, when you buy an iPhone, three years or more of operating system upgrades is what you can count. However, are Apple’s mobile legions taking advantage of the latest update offer? Find out which iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users are taking the plunge.
About a month after iOS 4 was released, web metrics firm Chitika said about 50 percent of the iPhone traffic it measured came from devices running iOS 4 — pretty darned good.
This time around, about two weeks after its release, Localytics reports that iOS 5 adoption stands at 33 percent of all eligible iOS devices.

Unsurprisingly, the newer iPhone 4 and iPad 2 top the adoption chart with older devices, especially iPod touch, showing lower upgrade rates. However, as the company used data collected from October 12 through October 17, the above numbers are probably a bit low by now.
That said, will iOS be able to top the 50 percent at one month high watermark set by iOS 4? I’m guessing they will at the very least come very close.
Whatever the case, the availability and adoption number put up by Apple vastly outstrips Android. Kind of puts all of those “buy one get one free” offers into perspective…
What’s your take?
