Apple cracks down on pirate site Apptrackr

December 31, 2011

The mothership has gotten heat from developers and pundits over its apparent inaction vis-a-vis app piracy, a problem observers say has only gotten worse in recent months. Although criticism of Apple is unlikely to subside, the biggest iOS pirate site has been pushed off shore and the problem has moved to countries ‘that do not have copyright laws.’

Can you hear me now? Verizon experiences LTE ‘growing pains’

December 30, 2011

Remember when the original iPhone came out sans 3G and lots of self-described smart people pooh-poohed Apple’s smartphone because it wasn’t cutting edge? Ultimately, Cupertino’s wisdom in making that decision was borne out because in 2007 3G just wasn’t there. We’re seeing a similar chain of events playing out now.

iPhone, iPad own shopping, holiday and otherwise

December 24, 2011

Google’s Andy Rubin claims that 700,000 Android handsets get activated every day. While that’s a lot phones, users seem to be only using them as — surprise, surprise — dumb devices. Thereupon, no better proof of this is Apple iOS’s near complete dominance of mobile shopping with fresh statistics showing more than 90 percent of the over 3 billion sessions tracked originated from an iPhone or iPad.

December 20, 2011

It is a victory for the Cupertino kids, but only just. Heart of the iPhone comes home

December 18, 2011

An almost surreal war of words has been playing out over the last few days. December 16, 2011

So, you’ve got an iPhone 4S and need a new washer-dryer, but your parents aren’t available or otherwise unhelpful — who ya gonna ask? Siri, of course, and now she and Apple search partner extraordinaire (answers not a results page) have appliances, Macs, TVs, iPads and more.

Flipboard for iPhone is a hit

December 14, 2011

The iPhone changed everything. iPad changed, or at the very least boosted, everything. A proof thereof is the fact that news reading on the iPhone was kludgey at best and just as likely to induce a headache. However, Apple’s tablet really changed mobile news reading and now the innovation’s coming back to the source.
