Let the iPhone 5S rumors begin!
Wait, and iPhone 6?! That’s right. A crazy rumor has been started that Apple plans on releasing both phones this summer.
Home button, vibrator and volume/mute flex cable parts have begun to surface, according to MacRumors and the French blog NowhereElse. As expected, they look nearly identical to the iPhone 5, following Apple’s product history.
The iPhone 5 was released in September 2012, but Apple tends to shake up release date on its speedier iPhone updates. Some site have suggested a June launch.
Some analysts have actually suggested that Apple will launch an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 6 at the same time, giving consumers more pricing options.
That seems unlikely, being that Apple’s supply chain was so tight for the iPhone 5 launch last year. The market would also be confused by too many choices being thrown at them at the same time.
What seems more plausible is to release the rumored “cheap” iPhone at the same time as the iPhone 5S, giving iPhone 4S users a reason to upgrade their device. An iPhone 6 would then be released in the summer or fall of 2014.
The International Business Times suggests Apple should release an iPhone 6 because of stiff competition from Samsung, which just released its Galaxy S4 — a smartphone that features a 13 megapixel camera.
From their report:
With the advent of cheaper, smaller, and more power-efficient chipsets, Apple can certainly afford to build an entry-level smartphone in addition to its current iPhone 5 (or 5S) — either making it larger, like the Samsung Galaxy S3, or possibly a smaller iPhone Nano — to appeal to consumers who can’t quite afford Apple’s most popular product, including many in China.
