Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch software currently rules the world of mobile devices. That is not just stating the obvious — which it is — but the statement is supported by reports from two different firms who analyze such figures although, of course, only on a current basis.

CBS Mobile has released its new TV.com app for iPhone and iPod touch users. This means that if you are in the right areas you will now be able to watch full episodes of selected CBS shows and other programs over Wi-Fi or 3G mobile networks on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

The idea that iPhone (or, indeed, any other smart phone with a largish screen) could one day oust the ATM is not that daft an idea. There was a time when streets all had telephone boxes because that is how you made a mobile call.

If the iPhone/iPod Touch has a fault, it is the glass screen. My iPod has a cracked screen — It was not me, guv’nor, honest — and the cost of replacing it seems to be around US$300 which is rather more than one has in mind. Therefore furious thought to see if there is a way to better protect the screen. There appears to be none in Google so this is a one-off and anyone can steal the idea.

Loud music blasted into your lugholes makes you deaf. Loud music from something stuck in you ear makes you deafer. This has been known certainly for 15 years. The Danish navy found they could not get sonar operators — they need good hearing — because loud music had done its dirty work.

Users download their apps from the App Store for the iPhone or iPod Touch, test it on the old maxim of suck it and see. If it is not what they want — one hesitates to use the word ’sucks’ — do not use it again. The price is free or minimal. There is no compulsion to force yourself to like and use the program. And most users don’t. Most vote ’suck’

iPodMe converts movies for your machine. It is wonderful. Not to say that iPodMe is the best free program for iPod Touchor iPhone. Life is too short to test them all. But for what it does it appears to be the best.
