It seems Apple got the memo that expensive phones are hugely subsidized to sell (expensive) contracts (which make more money than the handsets themselves). To that end, it may be allowing AT&T to subsidize the iPhone even further by letting the iPhone 2 go for just $200 with a new two-year contract.

Fake pictures of the next greatest Apple product are almost like a tradition by this point. It’s expected. If it didn’t happen people would be asking, “what happened?” So here we are, fake images of the iPhone have surfaced and at least one of them may be the real deal but nothing is certain until Steve Jobs himself walks up on stage and says “this is (the new) iPhone.”

Apple snuck in some Chinese handwriting recognition into the latest iPhone 2.0 beta, but the beta firmware has skipped Japanese handwriting recognition so far. Instead other options exist for Japanese input. Here’s what the options for Japanese and Chinese input look like.

Evidence of Apple’s 3G iPhone was recently discovered in the latest beta of the iPhone 2.0 firmware. While many may get excited over the mention of Apple’s new device, this may be a clue for something much bigger and it may involve Microsoft more than you think.

AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega thinks he just let loose a super, subtle secret. All AT&T devices — including the iPhone — will go 3G in the not-too-distant future, says the highly informed boss. What’s most amusing about this incident isn’t that he believes it’s a secret but rather the manner he delivered the "secret".

A popular tech site discovered the iPhone 2.0 firmware recently seeded to developers includes a YouTube plugin for MobileSafari.app, but this plugin may not give us the in-browser YouTube support many have been waiting for.
