With this stroke Google has obviated native iPhone YouTube app, which puts user eyeballs back squarely where searchzilla wants them — looking at ads. I suspect that if the roles had been reversed with Apple moving mobile web video from an ad-free format to one loaded with ads and tracking, there would have been an uproar.

As we count down the days to Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference, where the company’s expected to roll iPhone OS 4, Google is trying to make what hay it can. So, yes, their updated browser is the fastest available, but that claim’s only valid if Flash isn’t running.

The tenacious Norwegians at Opera Software built a version of their popular mobile browser for the iPhone and then sent it to Apple for approval, and almost no one thought that it would make it onto the App Store. To say the least, the naysayers have been proven wrong.

If you enjoy television — I mean really love the boob tube — then you really, really need to check out Boxee, which is available for the Mac, Linux and Windows. However, whether you watching on a MacBook on the couch or the 52-inch flat panel on the wall, even if it’s just to maintain form, you’re gonna need a remote.

A security expert has claimed that some data on the iPhone is vulnerable to hackers, including deleted voice mail and email, using YouTube videos to spread the word on what he sees as security flaws.
