BioWare is looking at possibly developing games on platforms beyond the console and PC – like the iPhone.

Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, BioWare co-CEO Greg Zeschuk confirmed that BioWare was looking at the iPhone.

“We look at every platform that comes along. Obviously, something that’s as big a cultural and technical success as the iPhone is something you really got to take a close look at. Certainly, there’s nothing written in stone yet but we’ve got a lot of folks looking at it. It’s intriguing,” said Zeschuk.

But 8am isn’t early enough for some, and queues are already forming outside the New York Apple Cube.

I’ve never really understood the logic of people who feel the need to be first to own a particular product. What are they trying to prove? That they have [...]]]>

Google Talk now on your iPhone Google’s just released a version of Google Talk just for iPhone and iPod Touch browsers. Certainly an interesting move, especially in the light of the yet-to-be-released Android.

The news was out on Google’s official Google Mobile blog, in a post written by Adam Connors, a software engineer with Google’s mobile team. To access the app, all an iPhone user needs to do is go to www.google.com/talk. It’s quite the stretch for Google to acquiesce to the iPhone users and make Google Talk usable for the iPhone.

It’s supposed to launch this month alongside the iPhone 3G. Why did I just you remind you about that? Because Apple just announced the deadline for apps to make it into the store on launch day.

Apple marked July 7, 2008 on its calendar as the deadline for the developers to submit applications to be sold on launch day, which happens to be July 11, 2008, says MacRumors.

Developers may continue to submit applications after the deadline, but any late submissions aren’t guaranteed to make it. Such apps [...]]]>

IDG reported AT&T’s revealed that they will offer the iPhone, sans contract at an undisclosed date. The iPhone 3G for customers with contracts will drop as scheduled July 11.

Prices for the contract-less iPhone? US$599 for an 8GB device and $699 for a 16GB. This is certainly an interesting move by AT&T, considering that previously no one could buy an iPhone without a two-year contract. But unlocked phones would probably be a bit too much to ask from the telco, who will likely lock the phones. [...]]]>

Though, that’s about to change. Curious? I know you are.

Apple just released a really, really boring video demonstration of the iPhone 3G in action, and we really, really don’t recommend you watch the whole thing if you possess a general understanding of how to use an iPhone. The 30 minute presentation recaps much of what we already know about the mobile version of OS X and the iPhone’s functionality and [...]]]>

The Nintendo DS and Sony PSP are the two current-gen hand-held games consoles around at the moment. But there could soon be a third contender, as the iPhone starts to build momentum as a viable platform for games. One man who has seen the potential of the iPhone, and mobile phone gaming as a whole is Neil Young, who has left his job as head of Electronic Arts Los Angeles studio to set up his own company called Ngmoco.

The Sydney Morning Herald carried Telstra’s news, making it the third mobile carrier to offer the iPhone. But it is also the first carrier to announce actual pricing. Thankfully Telstra’s plans aren’t as crushing as Rogers’s in Canada. The two-year plans start at $30 a month with an upfront cost of $279 for the 8GB model and $399 for the 16GB model.

iPhone to hit Best Buy and Radio Shack? Rumours are that you won’t need to queue up overnight outside an Apple store for an iPhone – Best Buy and Radio Shack just might stock them too.

The good news came out on Mobile Magazine’s blogs. Don’t get too excited, though. It’s just rumour at the moment and neither store chain has come out to announce iPhone availability. Still, Apple hasn’t exactly said that the new iPhone 3G will only be available from Apple and AT&T stores, just that they would [...]]]>

Developers can't wait to get on the iPhone gravy train As the Apple hypemachine keeps rolling, software developers are falling all over themselves to cash in on Apple’s upcoming App Store.

The AP reported analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray saying this on the App Store:"This is the iTunes Store for the iPhone…if you build an application that is compelling, people will pay $10, $20 for it."

He’s not the only one upbeat on the App Store. Other analysts are painting a rosy picture of what just might be Apple’s iTunes of the software world. [...]]]>
